a duo of warm accessories

As soon as the weather turned chilly I just knew I had to bulk myself up with some new winter woolies. (After all, standing outside with the wee ones can get quite chilly!)

First up, I sourced some gorgous Misti Alpaca Chunky in a bluey-greeny-purpley colour at the iKnit day in London. It is so incredibly soft, knit up in a flash (the only thing that took a long time was blocking it in our damp English house) and I love to wear it, as it doesn't look like a scarf and therefore can pass as indoor wear, too.

The pattern is The Fidget and it is free!

Then I whipped out a hat with some Debbie Bliss Merino Aran that I scored off of Liz in our last Oxford Bluestocking stash swap.

The cabling is a bit funny and random. I probably could have done something clever with it, but I was more interested in having a warm hat!

star cross'd

This one is Star Crossed (also free, on Ravelry), and my only mod was to knit the body of the hat with a 7mm needle instead of an 8mm/US11, after I snapped another cord join on my Denise set. (sigh) It is considerably less slouchy than other ones seen one Ravelry. (I am quite OK with that.)

Great scarf and hat. The alpaca looks very warm and snuggly.
